What makes the Jamaica Plain section of Boston unique?
One answer to this question is 294 acres of green space.

Olmsted Park
Jamaica Pond Park
Arnold Arboretum
Forest Hills Cemetery
Franklin Park and Zoo
Called the “Eden of America,” Jamaica Plain abounds with beautiful public parks, including Olmsted Park, Jamaica Pond Park, the Arnold Arboretum, the Forest Hills Cemetery, and Franklin Park. All of these spectacular sites combine to form a major portion of Boston’s famous “Emerald Necklace,” a string of connected parks designed in the nineteenth century by Frederick Law Olmsted to ring Boston. Olmsted’s vision was to provide a common area for healthful relief from pollution, noise, and the overcrowding of city life. Today the Emerald Necklace is considered to be one of his finest works and the parks are designated Boston landmarks listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Taylor House is located adjacent to Jamaica Pond, one of the gems in the Necklace, and is very close to the other sections of the Emerald Necklace described here. We’re providing some basic information and pictures to help you learn more about the neighborhood you’ll be visiting while at Taylor House. Many of our guests enjoy cross-country skiing, walking, jogging, and riding bicycles in our beautiful surrounds.
