Organized by Taylor House B&B and the Jamaica Plain Arts Council

Beginning Spring 2007 Taylor House Bed and Breakfast and the Jamaica Plain Arts Council (JPAC) embarked on a joint community venture, offering programs of music and art to the public in an intimate setting. The venue is Taylor House at 50 Burroughs Street in Jamaica Plain, a historic 1853 Italianate Victorian residence near Jamaica Pond. Concerts are in the music room, which seats about 50, and art is displayed in adjoining rooms. A reception with hors d’oeuvres follows the classical concerts, and a reception with desserts follows the jazz programs.
Classical music is offered at 4 PM on the second and fourth Sundays of every month except December. To promote variety throughout the season, a limit is set on the number of solo instrumentalists, duos, chamber ensembles, singers, choral groups, etc. To determine open dates see www.taylorhouse.com/musicandart. Submit requests to perform to darylbichel@aol.com. Programs should be about 45 minutes in length. A photo, biographical paragraph, and names of composers must be submitted by e-mail at least two months in advance. The final program is due the Wednesday before the concert. Singers must prepare and bring at least 25 copies of translations. The venue has a Yamaha 7’ grand piano. Performers must bring their own music stands. The section below on promotion is important; please read it before contacting us.
Jazz programs are given at 8 PM on the Friday evening after the second Sunday of every month except December. We prefer solo artists and duos over larger ensembles. Amplification is not necessary, and is in fact not allowed. To determine open dates see www.taylorhouse.com/musicandart. Submit requests to perform to darylbichel@aol.com. Programs should be about 45 minutes in length. A photo, biographical paragraph, and description of the program must be submitted two months in advance. The venue has a Yamaha 7’ grand piano. Performers must bring their own music stands. The section below on promotion is important; please read it before contacting us.
There is a suggested donation of $10 at the door. Ten percent goes to Taylor House to help with the advertising and reception. The rest goes to the musician(s).

The art shown for sale in conjunction with the musical
programs is curated by Arlene Snyder and Vivienne Frachtenberg. The series
provides an opportunity for the JPAC to showcase Jamaica Plain visual
artists. However, artists from other neighborhoods of Boston are also
eligible. The artwork can be viewed before and after the concerts and at
other times by arrangement with the artist or curators. Each show is up for

This program relies heavily on the participating musicians and artists for publicity. Your invitations to colleagues and friends and posting of flyers are very important. We create posters for each program and they can be forwarded and printed from our web site at www.taylorhouse.com/musicandart. Taylor House and the JPAC each promote the events as well, with notices placed in relevant Boston publications and e-mail blasts. Please email bios, program notes, and pictures (or web location of a picture) to Dave Elliott after you have set up a date with Daryl or the JPAC at Dave@TaylorHouse.com
