INGREDIENTS: 1/3 cup melted butter 5-6 1" slices day-old bread 4 eggs 2/3 cup orange juice 1/3 cup milk ¼ cup sugar ¼ t nutmeg ½ t vanilla ½ cup chopped pecans confectioners’ sugar, orange slices, whole pecans, and mint for garnish warm maple or citrus syrup DIRECTIONS: · Pre-heat oven to 350. · Pour butter into a 9 x 12 baking pan. · Cut slices of bread in half to fit into pan. · Prepare the egg mixture in a blender and pour over bread. · Sprinkle chopped pecans over bread. · Bake for 30 minutes. · Garnish and serve with maple or citrus syrup. SUGGESTIONS: Can be prepared the night before and refrigerated if the following changes are made: skip the melted butter and pecan garnish. In the morning, pour the butter into another 9 x 12 pan, transfer the soaked bread pieces to the new pan, sprinkle with pecans, and bake. |
